Logistics consultant, Home-based

Background

The HIV/AIDS Practice in the Bureau for Development Policy has a strategic outcome on gender, human rights and sexual minorities. This strategic area includes UNDP's role as lead UNAIDS cosponsoring agency for these areas of workand further to the Global Task Team's division of responsibilities. Human rights violations and inequitable gender relations continue to fuel the spread of the HIV epidemic. Protecting the rights of people living with HIV and promoting gender equality are essential for reducing vulnerability to HIV and scaling-up national responses. UNDP supports countries in creating an enabling human rights environment to protect the rights of people living with HIV, women and vulnerable groups.

Working with the UNDP HIV/AIDS Practice in BDP, under the overall guidance of the Practice Director, the consultant will undertake the assignments outlined below.

Duties and Responsibilities
    * Coordinate logistics for the MDG training in New York (in September);
    * Communicate with participants and UNDP colleagues to confirm flight itineraries;
    * Maintain a list of confirmed participants with contact information and flight details;
    * Organize airport transfers to and from the airport;
    * Identify a airport shuttle service to work with, who will provide transfers;
    * Coordinate hotel bookings for all participants;
    * Attend and organize the MDG training;
    * Finalize, print and distribute any requested materials for participants;
    * Distribute folders to participants at the training that include agendas, participant lists (including contact information of all participants), and any other requested materials;
    * Work with UNDP to organize the training venue;
    * Organize powerpoint access, notepads, pens and water for all training participants;
    * Organize coffee/tea breaks, breakfast, lunch and any other requested meals;
    * Liaise with rapporteur, who will attend the training and record minutes; and
    * Undertake any other related tasks.

Competencies
    * Strong organizational skills;
    * Experience in coordination of meetings;
    * Demonstrated ability to coordinate and work productively in team environment;
    * Dedication to UN principles and knowledge of overarching goals; and
    * Strong computer skills.

Required Skills and Experience

Master's degree in international relations or other related field;
At least 2 yrs of experience organizing events and/or logistics; and
Fluency in English; knowledge of another UN language is an asset.
