Purpose of the Position
Under the general guidance of the Chief Child Survival and Development programme, you will be responsible for the development, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of UNICEF programme of cooperation in nutrition in Sierra Leone which aims to improve nutrition programmes and strategies thereby leading to a reduction of malnutrition among children and women.

Key Expected Results
1. You will participate in the formulation and development of programme goals, strategies and approaches for the UNICEF plan of cooperation. Plan, implement and monitor activities in Infant and Young Child Feeding and Nutrition. Prepare the Infant and Young Child Feeding and Nutrition component of the Annual Workplan of the Child Survival and Development programme.
2. You will participate with UNICEF/government/and other partners in the development of strategies, methodologies and identification of new approaches for improving infant and young child feeding and nutrition, with emphasis on programme communication at community and household levels.
3. You will provide technical assistance for policy development and strategy formulation in the area of infant and young child feeding and nutrition that reflects child survival and development.
4. You will ensure the preparation of the Child Feeding and Nutrition component of the Situation Analysis and its periodic update. Prepare input of the Infant and Young Child Feeding and Nutrition component to the Country Programme Recommendation (CPR) and all related documents, (e.g., Plan of Operations, Project Plans of Action, Country Programme Summary Sheet (CPSS), Programme Summary Sheet (PSS)), for assigned programmes/projects.
5. You will assist government authorities and partners in planning and organizing training programmes for the purpose of capacity building of service providers, at national and district levels, to deliver nutrition services for children under five years and women of child bearing age, including HIV/AIDS affected children

Qualifications of Successful Candidate
Advanced university degree in Public Health or Nutrition. An additional degree in related technical field (Medicine, epidemiology or Health Sciences) is an asset.
Eight years progressively responsible professional work experience at the national and international levels in programme planning, management, monitoring, and evaluation of nutrition and related programmes. Experience in planning, coordination and implementation of training and social mobilization activities an added advantage.
Fluency in English and another UN language. Knowledge of the local language of the duty station is an asset.
